The last letter

My dear Leo,
I am leaving on Saturday, the 11th this month for T. On Tuesday (evening) we got the message that on Saturday we have to report for the transport. I am preparing all my things and so far as possible trying to stay calm. Because I hope we shall be coming back soon.
I thank you for everything, for your support which I needed so much.
Be very healthy and strong.
My love to your parents and especially to your mother whom I remember so often. It is a pity I couldn’t let you know earlier so I could see you once more.
So, dear Leo, my love and kisses to you, Your father Leo.
Prague , September 10, 1943
P.S. I have written to my sister Irene, so you can exchange eventual messages from me.

A short notice in pencil on a postcard dated 9.9.43 and stamped 10.9.43:
Dear Leo,
I greet you once more before leaving. I have got the parcel. Farewell, I am sorry we couldn’t meet. Sincere greetings to your family.
My heartfelt love and kisses. Your father.
